SPECIAL HANDLING OF LIVE ANTS

Shipping live ants can be a difficult task. Not only do you need to make sure that the ambient conditions are suitable, but you also need to make sure that the packaging is sufficient to protect them.

Don't worry though, we're experts as shipping live ants. We've been doing it for years.

We always try our best to ensure our live ant deliveries are speedy by only shipping ants via express. We are at the mercy of our shipping carriers so please excuse us if it's not always next day.

We will only ship Australian live ant orders Monday through to Thursday, providing the ambient temperatures do not exceed 30c. 

Please note: Due to quarantine laws within Tasmania and Western Australia we are unable to ship live ants to these states.

 

LIVE ANT GUARANTEES

All live ant shipments are covered by our arrive alive guarantee. If your ants arrive deceased then we will replace or refund your order. Just send us a photo of the ants and we'll process your claim.

International live ant orders will need to be photographed along with the official permit papers that accompany the order to process any claims.

Refunds will not include shipping costs.

DELIVERY METHODS FOR EQUIPMENT

For equipment orders you have the choice of shipping next day express, or parcel post (2-5 days), via Australia Post. 

Orders that are placed after 8am, Monday to Thursday are generally shipped next day. Orders arriving after 8am on a Friday are sent on Mondays. Once we have packaged and shipped your order you will receive a confirmation email confirming this.

 

PACKAGE REFUSALS

Please ensure you have the necessary permits or permission to import live ants into your country BEFORE placing an order. Any packages rejected or destroyed by customs will NOT be eligible for a refund.

 

AUTHORITY TO LEAVE WITHOUT SIGNATURE

Under no circumstances will we allow live ants to be left without signature. This is to avoid them being left in the sun or other conditions that may be fatal to the ants. If the customer is not able to take delivery of the package in most cases it will be sent to the local post office for pick-up.

In contrast, equipment orders are fine. If you'd like us to allow your equipment order to be left without a signature, just add a note at checkout.

 

TRACKING NUMBERS

Once your order has been packed and shipped by our shipping team, you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number included. 

You'll be able to keep a close eye on your order as it speeds (hopefully) through the carrier's network!

 

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PERIOD

Shipping estimates can be affected by the Christmas rush period. We recommend you place your order as early as possible prior to Christmas to ensure you receive your order on time.

Like most hard working people we love the holidays! Every year we take a brief 3 week break to recharge the batteries and get ready for another awesome year!

Typically the end date for orders is a few days before Christmas lasting up until our first day back, usually in the 2nd-3rd week of January.

 

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

We love shipping internationally. We think we're pretty good at it. Things are done a little differently to our domestic orders though;

Remember, Australia is generally considered at the far ends of the Earth so please be patient whilst your package makes its way through the shipping network. Whilst the delivery times advertised are to be used as a guide only, most packages should be delivered within this time frame. Please be aware that customs delays can significantly increase delivery times for some orders. Tracking can sometimes be delayed also, so don't be alarmed if you don't receive an update for a few days. Often the tracking won't update until it arrives in your actual country.

All international live ant orders are processed on Tuesdays and shipped on Wednesdays/Thursdays. It's a lengthy process which includes lodging export permits so please be patient. Live ants will only be dispatched providing the ambient temperatures does not exceed 30c or drop below 5c at our location AND the destination. In some rare cases during our very hot summers or cold overseas winters extended delays are possible.

Please be aware that your order may be subject to customs taxes or duties. Every country has their own laws surrounding these costs and it is the customers responsibility to be aware of the possible costs that may be incurred.
