One of the most commonly encountered Camponotus ants in Australia, along with its close relative C.consobrinus.

These large nocturnal ants have been dubbed äóìsugar antsäó? for their love of sugary foods.

Although not generally considered dangerous, these large ants are very defensive of their colony and will do so with frequent biting.

Possessing both minor and major workers these ants are very popular with ant keepers.
